SPS boasts a highly experienced and stable securities lending team with an average securities lending experience of ten years. Our least experienced team member has 4 years securities lending specific experience with our most experienced more than twenty year’s experience. Senior management follows a hands on approach and is directly involved in the day to day operation of the lending desk ensuring consistently high standards of service.
Colin Smit Econ (Age 65) Executive Director and Key Individual He has completed FSB: First Level Regulatory Examination - Representatives First Level Regulatory Examination - FSPs (Sole proprietors) and Key Individuals in Categories I, II, IIA, III and IV RE3 First Level Regulatory Examination - FSPs (Sole proprietors) and Key Individuals in Categories II and IIA. JC Bruce D Phil FIFM (age 55) Executive Director and Key Individual JC is one of the founding directors of SPS with more than 20 years’ experience in the investments and securities lending industry. He has done extensive research into the risks associated with securities lending and the role of structural factors underlying incidences of extreme opportunism in financial markets, which culminated in a Master’s degree (Cum Laude) in 2005 and a Doctorate in 2008 from the University of South Africa. He has completed the International Capital Markets Qualification from the Securities Institute London. Introduction to International Capital Markets, International Equity Markets , South African Regulatory Module, Futures, Options and other Derivative Products, International Fixed Interest and Bond Markets module and the Chartered Institute of Financial Markets (CISI) UK Regulation & Professional Integrity module. JC has been a Fellow of The South African Institute of Financial Markets (SAIFM) since 2008. He has completed FSB: First Level Regulatory Examination - Representatives First Level Regulatory Examination - FSPs (Sole proprietors) and Key Individuals in Categories I, II, IIA, III and IV RE3 First Level Regulatory Examination - FSPs (Sole proprietors) and Key Individuals in Categories II and IIA Warren Cawood B.Comm (Age 32) Senior Securities Lending Administrator Warren started his securities lending career with SPS in 2002 and is a seasoned securities lending and transaction analysis practitioner. He holds a B.Comm - Risk Management from the University of South Africa and is an FSB registered Cat I and II Compliance Officer. He has completed the FSB: First Level Regulatory Examination - Representatives First Level Regulatory Examination - FSPs (sole proprietors) and Key Individuals in Categories I, II, IIA, III and IV Natalie Herbert (Age 35) Senior Administrator Natalie started her career in securities lending in 2000 and has been with SPS since 2002. Natalie has gained a wealth of experience over the past 12 years and is invaluable member of our team. She has completed FSB: First Level Regulatory Examination - Representatives and the SAIFM Introduction to Financial Markets. Janine Stewart Smit (Age 31) Compliance and Transaction Analysis Administrator Janine started at her career in securities lending with SPS in 2013. She has completed FSB: First Level Regulatory Examination - Representatives First Level Regulatory Examination - FSPs (sole proprietors) and Key Individuals in Categories I, II, IIA, III and IV She also completed the SAIFM Introduction to Financial Markets as well as Regulations and Ethics of South African Financial Markets. |
